Hi friends,
First, a heartfelt thank-you to Amber Garcia, Debra Erenberg, and the entire Weaving Voices for Health & Justice team for inviting me to share a few words as we celebrate 30 years of this powerful movement.
I also want to thank the Weave staff, board, and donors, past and present, who have kept this mission strong, vibrant, and ever evolving. Together, you’ve carried forward a vision that began three decades ago and transformed it into a thriving, intersectional force for health and justice.
My journey with this organization goes way back to the days of the Household Hazards Report, when Weaving Voices (then Women’s Voices for the Earth) was one of the first groups to expose the hidden dangers in the products under our kitchen sinks. When that work began, I knew I had to be part of this mission. At the time, there was almost no data on how everyday chemicals affected women’s health. We often had to piece together what we could, sometimes extrapolating from research on janitorial workers who used similar products in commercial settings. We knew the chemistry was the same, and even then we understood that the absence of data did not mean the absence of harm. Women’s experiences and leadership were essential to pushing scientific and policy change forward.
Serving on WVE’s Board of Directors became one of the great privileges of my career. I watched this organization grow from raising awareness about cleaning products to leading national campaigns for corporate accountability, safer salons, and reproductive health.
I also had the joy of stepping into the “Ask Alex” role during our Director of Science & Research’s maternity leave. Answering women’s questions about chemicals, health, and the products they used reminded me just how personal and accessible science can be, and how deeply people rely on Weaving Voices for clarity and truth.
Today, seeing this organization advocate for lubricant safety, drive the formaldehyde ban, and call out toxic marketing in intimate care fills me with hope. The team continues to weave research, advocacy, and community voices into a tapestry of change that is both deeply personal and profoundly systemic.
And now, more than ever, this work needs you.
Movements like this can’t flourish if we sit on the sidelines. They grow because people who believe in justice, health, and equity choose to invest in them. Chemical exposure, corporate influence, and health inequities aren’t slowing down. And neither can we.
Every gift fuels the science, advocacy, and community power that protects our health and strengthens our collective voice. Your support directly powers the research, organizing, and courage it takes to hold companies and institutions accountable.
So, I’m asking you to donate today.
Help keep this work bold, grounded, and unstoppable. Your generosity ensures that the next 30 years of Weaving Voices are even more transformative than the first.
Thank you for standing with us. When we listen, learn, and lead together, we don’t just create change—we create a movement. And with your support, this movement will only continue to grow.
With deep gratitude,
