Our Beautiful Hair Without the Scare campaign is featured in Ebony Magazine! In this compelling op-ed, Weave’s Director of Programs, Jayla Burton, joins Representative Shontel Brown to highlight the urgent need to ban formaldehyde in hair straightening products and what this beauty justice and public health issue means for Black women.
The piece also uplifts a new bill in Congress from U.S. Representatives Brown, Vasquez, and Pressley, the Healthy Hair Act, which aims to move us closer to a federal formaldehyde ban and ensure stronger protections for salon workers and consumers.
Together, we are fighting to ensure salon workers and consumers never have to choose between beauty and their health.
