Vaginal Health: Menstrual & Intimate Care

Menstrual and intimate care products come into contact with some of the most sensitive and absorbant parts of our body. Yet many tampons, pads, sprays, washes and wipes contain harmful chemicals linked to cancer, hormone disruption, reproductive harm and allergic reactions. The FDA doesn’t require full safety testing or ingredient disclosure—leaving millions exposed every day, especially Black, Latina, and low-income women who use intimate care products at higher rates.

We’re working to eliminate toxic chemicals from this $3 billion industry, because everyone deserves safe, healthy products!

About Vaginal Health Week

Founded in 2021 by Women’s Voices for the Earth (now Weaving Voices for Health & Justice), Vaginal Health Week began as a week of education and action and has grown into a movement to break stigma, shine a light on an often-overlooked topic, and advocate for the rights of people with vaginas and those who care about them.

Over the years, we’ve highlighted gaps in menstrual and intimate care and called for collective action to improve the practices, policies, and standards that shape vaginal health.
